Raising Children who think--seven simple things you can do.

Dear Preeti
well have been a harry potter fan for a long time...... Now its the eragon series by paolini. cant wait for his third book. reading kids books is like a whiff of fresh air you know - truth, honesty, fairplay, honour, freindship - it warms the heart after all teh shit that we have to put up  with on a daily basis.

AUSTRALIA: BEST CAN BE THE WORST...

Well Ramesh
the validity of your statemnets can only be seen in the next test at perth. If as u say the resurgent team india can get one feather in their cap then they have proved themselves. I have lost faith in this crass and commercial indian team a long time back.

Dear Preeti
That was a wonderfully written concise article. I have a 3.5 yr old son and he is just as u have described. For us Tom and Jerry was the best. Nowadays its just not fashionable - Ben 10 and transformers are. he learns the names of many strange toys and strangely shaped sweets and does not rest till he gets them. The TV is his pass time. The suggestions in your article are valid - mostly we as parents are aware of this but when it comes to implement these on our kids  - well best of luck there.

MONKEYS AND BASTARDS: PONTING, KINDLY READ

Worst is a subjective word avinash - it assumes that everyone sledges but the aussies do it more than most.  don't take me for an aussie supporter, am not by a long shot - but the point is, the aussies sledge, they play hard and THEY WIN GAMES while when we sledge we loose games.

MONKEYS AND BASTARDS: PONTING, KINDLY READ

Dear Avinash
Point taken and agreed about the son part and am sorry if it upset you. However i dont agree with rest. I have seen many a team behave in that manner in cricket and in many other sports. it is how games are played. The mind is always manipulated to win games. and please dont tell me that cricket is a gentlemans game - i simply will not beleive it.

MONKEYS AND BASTARDS: PONTING, KINDLY READ

Dear Avinash
I just read your piece with your son there (Personally i would not advice my son to insult someone elses father and fore father). I have been watching this australia - india episode with amusement for the past few days. It seems everyone forgot in the middle of the controversy that we lost because of the umpires and of course the way we play. Apart from that, the remaining things happen - sreesanth had more than his fair share of histrionics when australia toured india. Players do utter a few words and exchange blows in all sports all over the world. I am an indian who despices cricket. I think its a lazy mans game, hyped so much at the cost of other competive sports (but thats just my personal opinion).
As such to consider the Aussies boorish and insulting because of this or we indians to be resurgent of holding our own is stupid. I have watched with trepidation quite a few channels whipping out a fervour with their "come back india"  slogans over the past few days. stupid really. I would rather the indian team stayed there, held their heads up and played a good days game and WON - which more often than not, they are not capable of. Football and Hockey are a much better game anyday.
